The approach of summer is something at the forefront of everyone’s minds. As a florist, it can only mean one thing: wedding season. Summer 2024’s wedding trends have shifted focus onto unique colours and textures, striking centrepieces, and sustainable practices- something to suit everybody. So, without further ado, let’s delve into what to watch in wedding flowers this summer!
- Bold colours and textures
We often see that fashion trends and wedding trends are in harmony with one another. This year fashion saw the rise of bold prints (think cheetah print) and an emphasis on textural accents (think ribbons, layering and excessive jewellery). This year’s summer wedding trends remain symbiotic to the fashion world. Funky contrasting colours, quirky textures and accessories have replaced the classic “romantic” style wedding bouquet…. and we are absolutely here for it!
2. Floral Installations
In keeping with this summer’s bold wedding themes, we can expect striking floral installations to be the focal point of the wedding venue. Boasting beautiful colours, textures and layers, a large floral installation proves just as effective as an elaborately decorated reception room. 3. Sustainable weddings
Environmental awareness, while not a trend, has become an issue which has truly come to light in recent years, and it remains ever present in the wedding industry. The floristry industry is a huge contributor to excess waste and it is the small steps we take during wedding planning that can have a major impact in reducing this. Sourcing local wedding flowers not only minimizes environmental impact but also helps to support local businesses. Reducing paper when it comes to the likes of place cards and invitations is another simple step you can take towards a more environmentally conscious wedding.
